Because of Energy Lab and Trevor’s adaptive approach to my needs, I achieved my Ironman dream sooner than expected and have kept going. Given my travel schedule and the sheer demands of my career, I thought I would have to wait until I retired to do an Ironman. With Trevor’s guidance, I have completed five Ironmans and countless “halfs”. I did not start this journey until I was 49; I turn 55 this year and just had my fastest 70.3. I don’t log as many miles as I use to b/c of Trevor’s focus on quality over quantity. Even post-race recovery and off-season workouts have a role. Trevor wasn’t my first coach, but he will definitely be my last.

As a birthday gift, a friend got me a private swim lesson with Coach Trevor. At the time I was training for my first 70.3 and was naively using workouts and trying techniques I found online. During that first session I
thought he was trying to drown me! After surviving it I realized the invaluable amount of information and experience Trevor had to offer and that I was not going to reach my goals using my current approach. After barely making the cutoff in that 70.3, I went to full time coaching with Trevor. 6 months later he had me breezing through my first full Ironman. I couldn’t have done it without the tips, tricks, insights, knowledge of the body mechanics, nutrition, planning of workouts, and the extra pushing and support from him. Trevor is also very likeable, relatable, and has a great sense of humor which makes for an awesome coaching experience.

I first started working with Trevor in the fall of 2014. I was training for an Ironman and approached him to see if he could help improve my swim stroke. After meeting him and discussing my personal fitness goals, it became pretty clear I had a lot of opportunities to improve not only my swimming, but my overall level of fitness, my strength, flexibility, and rehab a long standing shoulder injury. I have a pretty busy schedule and Trevor works within my schedule to create a flexible training plan. Working with Trevor over the past years, he’s helped me create lifetime fitness habits and achieve sustainable overall health and wellness.

I trained with Trevor for my first 70.3 and had an amazing experience. He was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and patient with me. I’ve got 3 young children and a husband that travels, so my training schedule needed to be flexible. There were days when I really struggled with my recovery, but he was always very supportive (and strategic) with altering my workouts. He was available for questions anytime and checked in frequently. Heading into my race he answered any questions and addressed all my concerns. I felt prepared and excited by the time race day came. I ended up finishing, within my goal time, with a smile on my face. My recovery was surprisingly quick and I walked away an Ironman. I probably could have finished my race without Trevor’s coaching, but I certainly would have been slower and less prepared. Plus, my experience would not have been as enjoyable. I wasn’t completely convinced I needed a coach going into my training, but coming out of it, I could not recommend him more.
